I have a monster updated to celebrate the release of Brief 1.1! See the first post!
Compact Brief received an update and the Dark series have been upgraded from Brief 0.7 compatibility to Brief 1.1 compatibility! Also I have stomped out all the errors/warnings the styles produced that the Error Console have reported previously!
If you have suggestions or have problems with my styles, please report them to me.
Regarding the "1.1 only", 1.1 didn't introduce any changes to the page structure, so there is no reason why a style which works with 1.1 wouldn't work with 1.0.*

You gave 1.1's default stylesheet a more colorful approach including making some font tweaks and my latest updates use 1.1's stylesheet as a base. Since 1.1 is the base for these styles, Compact Brief wouldn't work with old Brief versions and my Dark series may work with old versions (I make no guarantees however -- use at your own risk if you have an old version of Brief).
Oh and Compact Brief no longer has Headlines View condensed into just one line. They only take two lines total now. This also goes double for the compact Dark styles.
This is because Brief was built with all the article containers sharing one CSS property. If one collapsed article container has an article title that overflows and causes a wordwrap to a new line, all of the other collapsed article containers on the current page are expanded to two lines instead of only the affected article container.
12/25/07 EDIT - Just updating the thread with some new info. No new stylesheets or stylesheet updates though.
1/8/08 EDIT - Dark Royal Blue has now been added to my Dark series! Get the links in the 1st post of this thread!
How did you manage to get overflows to go to a new line without having all other article container boxes expand with the current container that has overflow? o.O
And thanks for making this actually live up to it's name. I may actually be further compact my Dark series with your help. ^.^
Infocatcher - After reviewing what you've done, I've been unable to solve the problem of Firefox's theme buttons from breaking article containers in your mod. So unless ancestor is willing to rework Brief to have it's own buttons for Mark Item as Read and Delete/Restore Item that take up only one line instead of Firefox's buttons that take up two lines, I'm going to leave my styles as is for now.
Ivan - Happy you like the styles. ^.^
It was my intent to make a multi-color style so there would be something for everyone (that likes dark styles -- there's also Compact Brief if people just want a compacted version of Brief's default style).

Just a heads up if anyone is looking for me to update my styles for Brief 1.2alpha 3 compatibility. I'm waiting for Firefox 3 final to come out before I upgrade. Meaning I am not using the FF 3 betas currently.
I am using FF 2.0.0.12 with Brief 1.1, meaning there's no way for me to update my sheets unless I jump into the Firefox 3 betas (which I have no plans to do currently or for the foreseeable future).
If you don't want to wait on me to update the styles, feel free to take the styles and update them yourself. That's right, you don't need to ask me for permission first.
5/23/08 EDIT -
If anyone wants Compact Brief on Brief 1.2b3, copy and paste these lines into Brief's Custom Style Editor (in Brief's Options):

Oh, sure. It'll take some time though.
6/17/08 EDIT - I have all my styles updated for Brief 1.2 compatibility, but I'm not going to upload them just yet. I have a few other things to sort out first (includes putting together screenshots) and I have no idea how long this will take.
But if you can't wait, feel free to E-mail me at Engamer01 at yahoo.com . Just name the style(s) you want and I'll send it/them to you.
Now with screenshots, a how to use these styles feature, and the ZIP containing all my styles! ...Yeah, yeah. Took me long enough. =P
4/09 or 5/09 EDIT - Just bumping to mention whenever ancestor decides to support any of the upcoming Firefox 3.5 betas or RCs with the next version of Brief, I'll be unable to update my styles to match until I'm able to update to a future beta/RC.
5/24/09 EDIT - Site's back up!
6/24/09 EDIT - My styles work with Brief 1.2.1 for Firefox 3.5rc2. Now to update my Styles for Brief page with that info.
6/25/09 EDIT - Done. Styles for Brief page updated with the new information.

.article-header { margin-bottom: 10px !important; } .article-subheader, .collapsed-article-subheader { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif !important; font-size: 13px !important; } .article-content { font-family: Verdana, Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif !important; font-size: 13px !important; } .article-container[collapsed] { min-height: 0 !important; } .article-container[collapsed] .article-date { display: none !important; } .article-container[collapsed] .feed-name { max-width: none !important; overflow: visible !important; }The previous styles are dead unless ancestor allows stylesheets to come back in the future.
