Displaying the unread feed count on the toolbar button.

Is my firefox config broken or is it normal behavior that the brief toolbar button doesn't display the unread feed count?  I don't use a statusbar (in order to increase my laptop's screen-realestate,) so I keep brief next to the address bar, but I'm not seeing the unread count.  This is very problematic because one of the main reasons I use brief is to be able to tell if I have updates at-a-glance -- a subliminal form of persistant notification, if you will.

Is there a way to fix this?  If not, then is there a way to make the firefox notification popup on a regular interval (possibly every 30 seconds to a minute) informing me of how many unread feed items I have?

Re: Displaying the unread feed count on the toolbar button.

Hover your mouse over the Brief toolbar or status bar icon for a sec or so.  You'll get a tooltip showing what feeds have unread items and how many unread items there are per feed.  Also Brief's status bar icon shows you the total amount of unread items you have in your feeds.  If you're missing the status bar icon, you can turn it on in Brief's Options under the Display pane.
